Whenever I walk through the hardware store - which happens at least once per week - I skim a couple of sections for small items like the ones you can see in the photos.

Different kinds of screws, hex nuts, and all kinds of tiny metal objects I don't know how to properly use (yet).

And once at home, I turn them into jewelry. A necklace, a ring, earrings, sometimes a bracelet. I do like the golden rings my grandma gave me, don't get me wrong, "real" jewelry is NICE. But these odd findings are worthy jewelry to me, too - only affordable and versatile.

I often wear them at work, a nice marimekko dress, even heels sometimes, and then a golden thingie on a cheap hardware store chain. I like the contradiction of that.

Anyway, turning all these beautiful things into jewelry is super easy. These photos can serve as a kickstarter for your own ideas, and over the next couple of weeks I'm going to show a few of my favorite pieces of hardware store bling in detail.

Until then... Enjoy shopping all the hex nuts you can get!
